32 Hundred and the 2011 City2Surf

32 Hundred won the contract to supply and build the finish line structures for the world famous Sydney City2Surf race in August. Martin Bevz designed the structures from scratch using a combination of F01, F32 and F34 Global Truss providing large modular structures that can be easily reassembled and re-used each year. The finish line structure looked great and the martialling structure ensured competitors moved through completion registration with ease and efficiency. The City2Surf is the largest race event of its type in the world with a record participation of more than 85,000 people this year and has been running (excuse the pun) since 1971.

Martin was very pleased with how the event went for them under tight deadlines and security. It would have been a rewarding project for Martin who took the event from a design brief to conceptual design, full documented design and implementation. On the day, Martin was able to achieve a personal best “I made it to the finish line at Bondi Beach in 52 minutes even.” Very impressive. He adds, “On any other day that would be considered a long time but on race day usually the road closures means it takes much longer to drive there…” Mmmm, maybe not so impressive!
