A Run of Back-to-Back Productions
Ziggy Alberts recently wrapped a run of back-to-back shows across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, each performance anchored by a complete lighting package and a duplicate rigging setup. The touring workflow demanded consistency, reliability and fast deployment, and the production delivered exactly that.
The visual identity of the shows was brought to life using the Martin Viper XIP as the core workhorse fixture. Designed and operated by Steve Granville on a RoadHog4 Fullboar, the rig delivered a seamless transition from venue to venue, maintaining the same creative impact night after night.
Global Truss in Action
Each show relied on Global Truss solutions to support the tour’s efficiency and structural needs. Pre-rig truss played a central role in minimising setup time and keeping the production moving across the three-city schedule.
The configuration also featured the Global Truss F01 Modular 850mmW U-Frame with Conical Spigot, Pins and R-Clips in black (SKU: GT-F01-U-DROP850). This modular aluminium U-Frame is designed for lighting, projection and AV applications, allowing single, double or multi-fixture ladder setups. Its compatibility with Global Truss F01 tubes, spigots, dice and adaptors makes it a highly adaptable touring component. Reinforced construction, safety point attachments on each side and the option for custom sizing ensure it performs reliably under demanding conditions. The units used on this run were supplied in black, with additional colours available on request.

Pre-Rig
Attaching lights to a centre chord allows light fittings to be pre-rigged, cabled and assigned in the factory before loading into a truck. This process will always be faster in a production factory than on-site.
Truck packing and unpacking time is reduced substantially. So, too, is site load-in and load-out time i.e. truck space requirements are minimised, resulting in decreased fuel costs. (Of course, Global’s Pre-Rig Truss has been expressly designed with dimensions to suit Australian truck pack widths.)
The final advantage of using this Pre-Rig Truss as a touring solution is that it negates the need for road case storage space otherwise required for the show’s duration.
Pre-Rig Truss usage is not limited to touring production companies. It also offers a practical solution for venues and stadiums, particularly for fast and safe deployment from dedicated storage spaces.
