Ovation Custom, has delivered a bespoke transport and protection solution for NRG Event Batteries. NRG Event Batteries is New Zealand’s first event-specific battery power system, designed and built in Central Otago.
Developed in partnership with TomTom Productions in Queenstown. The system replaces diesel generators with clean, silent power for live events, productions, conferences, festivals, and community gatherings.
Custom 12RU Ovation Road Case Solution- Built for Production Demands
Each NRG unit weighs approximately 200kg, requiring a robust case solution capable of safe transport, repeated handling, and protection of sensitive internal systems in fast-paced event environments.
Ovation Custom engineered a purpose-built 12RU road case tailored specifically to the NRG system, featuring:
- Reinforced anti-shock rack system for heavy internal loads
- Heavy-duty 750kg-rated castors for safe movement under full weight
- Structural reinforcement to manage transport vibration and stress
- Integrated lithium battery packs enabling independent on-site power without generators
The result is a transport system designed not only to protect the equipment, but to support efficient deployment in live production workflows.
Enabling Clean, Silent Power
NRG Event Batteries deliver three-phase power for professional audio, lighting, and staging applications. Operating from New Zealand’s predominantly renewable South Island grid (95–98% renewable). This enables zero onsite emissions and removes generator noise entirely—improving conditions for crews, audiences, and surrounding environments.
Supporting a Shift in Event Infrastructure
Traditional off-the-shelf battery systems often struggle in live production settings due to mobility and deployment constraints. NRG was designed specifically to address this through a modular, roadcase-based format that integrates into existing workflows.
Ovation Custom played a key role in enabling that mobility—ensuring the system can be safely transported, rapidly deployed, and protected in transit.
