Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre, boasts spectacular science shows and hundreds of hands-on exhibits and is one of Canberra’s most popular tourist attractions. Sound Advice recently secured the contract to refit the “Japan Theatre” at the centre part of which included a special truss structure over the stage. The truss concept was developed by consultant Ian Anderson of Mitech Design and Design Quintessence turned the concept sketch into working drawings. It turned out to be a more difficult challenge than expected when a site measure confirmed the room and stage was totally asymmetrical and the truss had to complement the stage. The result was an F34 Square Truss structure that was totally custom with nfot one standard component being used. Sound Advice did an excellent job installing the entire project and the theatre has been “working hard” ever since.
