At Design Quintessence, we’re passionate about continuously bringing fresh, groundbreaking concepts to the market. In December 2022, we were presented with a unique opportunity by Merivale Productions to craft a bespoke road case for a VC 5000 with DMX fan and gas bottles. Armed with our client’s preliminary sketches, complete with equipment dimensions and specifications, our Design and Manufacturing team set out to recalibrate the design, incorporating Ovation hardware and materials, as well as developing custom-sized ventilation grills.

High-Quality Birch Plywood:
Our signature plywood from Adam Hall is specially crafted for high-performance, heavy-duty road cases. Composed of Scandinavian Birch layers, fused with DIN-certified (DIN EN 204) D4 graded glue, this plywood provides maximum stability and resistance to moisture exposure. It’s also coated with ABS on both sides, with one side textured, adding a professional, unique aesthetic.

Our hardware is supplied by Adam Hall, a world-renowned road case hardware manufacturer. The hardware used in Ovation cases is ingeniously designed to safeguard your precious assets. Adam Hall provides an extensive array of robust case components, all crafted in Germany for professional flight case manufacturers.

Significantly, our cases are designed and manufactured right here in Australia, ensuring a quick turnaround and the ability to provide solutions customised to each client’s requirements.
With over a quarter-century of industry-leading experience, our in-house team of designers quickly pinpointed the optimal solutions for our client’s needs, while still respecting their original ideas. Our cloud-based drawing system ensures all client requirements are met meticulously.
The VC 5000, also known as the ViCount 5000, is among the most efficient smoke generators in the entertainment sector, producing thicker, longer lasting, and larger volumes of smoke than competitors. This necessitates custom-sized grills to ensure adequate ventilation and safety during operation. These cases also offer versatility, being suitable for use during events or as secure storage without requiring equipment removal.
Once the client approved the final design, a refined interpretation of the initial sketch, our team assembled the specified hardware and prepared technical drawings and machining instructions for the manufacturing team. An integrated approach across sales, design, and manufacturing guarantees alignment of 3D drawings and information between our team and the client.
This project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between our client and our Design and Manufacturing team. Each party contributed their expertise, enriching the design process and ultimately achieving a common goal. The outcome was a fully operational case that met the needs for both storage and use, delighting our client and sparking further design inspiration with Ovation.
