Raising the Roof: Revolution Staging sets the stage for success at WOMADelaide

Held on the traditional lands of the Kaurna People, WOMADelaideWorld Of Music Arts & Dance – is an iconic open-air festival celebrating cultural discovery in the heart of Adelaide’s stunning Botanic Park / Tainmuntilla. The Worlds Festival, since 1992, is a truly unique part of the Australian festival landscape, showcasing the best, the essential – and the surprising – in music, arts, dance and ideas from around the world.

The event features multiple stages where several performances take place simultaneously, allowing punters to choose from a variety of acts and genres. Each year, the exact number of stages varies, the festival traditionally consists of several main stages.

This year, Revolution Staging were approached by WOMADelaide to develop a roofing solution for Stage 2. Having supplied two of their own C12 structures for several years to serve as stage 3 and 7, Revolution Staging were able to develop a double “C13” structure.

The roof consists of over 120 metres of F45 5 Chord Truss components and over 65 metres of F34P (3mm) Square Truss along with specially designed components to provide support and tension to the roof sheeting. The roof is held up by 6 of their own custom steel towers.

Revolution Staging chose the F45 truss system and its components because they offered great flexibility and strength in a compact format. It allowed them to create a versatile staging setup that perfectly suited their project. The F45 truss system was not only efficient in space but also delivered exceptional durability and functionality. It was an excellent choice for Revolution Staging to bring their vision to life!

The F45 Truss is based on the F44P 400mm x 400mm truss design and is designed for applications such as LED screens where balanced centre rigging of the screen panels on the truss is essential. A central chord with ladder-style horizontal bracing on the bottom face of the truss allows LED panels to be clamped directly onto the centre chord.

This negates the need to balance the load by slinging or bracing across the two bottom chords to provide central rigging points as would normally be necessary on a square format truss.

Overall, Revolution Staging used over 175 metres of F45 Truss and over 110 metres of F34P Truss as part of their build of three incredible stages at WOMADelaide that hosted a diverse range of performances. Their expertise made the festival come alive, offering a memorable experience for everyone.

Revolution Staging are one of Victoria’s largest stock owners of Global Truss with over 400 mixed pieces of lengths and junctions, accessories and Performer Staging in their inventory.
