Revolution Staging uniting Melbourne’s resilient music artists at SQUARE UP

During the first quarter of 2021, The Operatives helped celebrate some of Melbourne’s resilient artists, and live music’s unique ability to connect, heal, and unite. Debuting the first of its kind, SQUARE UP, the event saw musicians, DJs and visual artists sharing a custom-built stage in a live collaborative setting built in one of Melbourne’s unique theatres, Forum Melbourne.

The team at Revolution Staging were approached with a concept of a 2-storey truss structure that contained 4 individual cube (SQUARE) performance spaces. With the flexibility of Global Truss F34P, Revolution Staging were required to build the structure specific to dimensions to fit onto the stage in the theatre, but still be able to provide enough space to accommodate production elements, musicians and dancers.

Using the F34P gave the structure ample strength to accommodate the performers and production elements including moving lights and LED. The connection system also results in an extremely rigid structure that meant unsightly cross bracing was not required and the aesthetics were maintained.

Revolution incorporated Global Truss Performer Staging onto the second storey of the structure to provide a solid surface making it easy to integrate into the truss structure and suited the overall look.
